Jasperware, type of fine-grained, unglazed stoneware introduced by the English potter Josiah Wedgwood in 1775 as the result of a long series of experiments aimed at discovering the techniques of porcelain manufacture. Its name derives from the fact that is resembles the natural stone jasper inits hardness. Jasperware(also known as Jasper)Josiah Wedgwood discovered the recipe for Jasperware clay after experimenting with different types of clay for years, and kept the recipe secret for the rest of his life.

CONDITION: Great condition for it's age. I see no chips or cracks and damage to the item or scratches. Very little wear on rim at the bottom (see pictures). I try to describe my item to the best of my ability.
